About Richard J. Perry:

Richard J. Perry loves to cook. While some chefs simply create, Perry generates a special brand of excitement that becomes part of the food itself. In fact, when asked what his favorite dish is to make, Perry enthusiastically replies, “The one that I’ve never made before—the one I’m making tonight.” This unique passion for form—scratch cooking, mixed with a dash of nostalgia, comes alive like never before in the pages of his latest culinary offering, The Good Home Cookbook, a hearty compendium of more than 1,000 classic American recipes.

Perry originally honed his culinary craft at The Western Culinary Institute. As a classically trained chef, he keeps his skills alive by testing new dishes daily. He is a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals and Slow Cook Movement.

Perry has been a guest on the Food Network and Travel Channel and featured in a myriad of national publications, regional radio and television. An avid collector of vintage kitchen gadgets, cookbooks and product advertising, he is also the creator of the popular Retro cookbook and lifestyle series by Collectors Press, and author of three of its titles: Retro Kids Cooking, Retro Breakfast and Retro Luau.

Perry cooks for his family of four nightly at home in Portland, OR.
